a member of what press?

That wasn't directed at you, DK. I'll have to ask my source. They haven't called me yet.

Thanks Alice. I actually know someone else who has a connection - not a direct one, but through a friend - and this person also told me a while back that Gamer was supposed to be pushed at CC. Now whether this request came from Lionsgate or from the CC organizers, I don't know. I'm not sure how that works.

This is all just weird to me, that they wouldn't even push it at all.

And why would a member from the press be the one to contact? They could have very well been reading the same schedules the rest of us have been reading. Just because something isn't on the agenda doesn't mean it won't be added. I wonder why they didn't get a statement from either Lionsgate or Gerry's people instead.

OMG, I hope Bea has a 4 day pass because I am SO hitting the booths on Wednesday preview night. I WANT that Vulcan foam finger AND that stuffed tribble!! Gotta get the swag bag too.

http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-12500-San-Diego-City-Guide-Examiner~y2009m7d15-A-sneak-peak-at-some-some-great-ComicCon-2009-giveaways

A sneak peak at some some great Comic-Con 2009 giveaways

If you've been to Comic-Con before, you know there is a reason that Warner Bros. (and others) give out gigantic bags: to haul all of the "swag" you can pick up as giveaways from the hundreds of exhibitors and events that are happening throughout the convention.

Here are a few sneak peaks at what attendees will have a chance to pick up this year at the San Diego Comic-Con:

Paramount Home Entertainment (PHE) will be giving two Star Trek must-have items: blue Vulcan salute foam fingers and plush Tribbles. They will also have limited edition Transformer giveaways.

"Live long and prosper" Vulcan salute foam fingers will be available
from the Paramount booth (Booth #3535) at San Diego ComicCon."

USA Network's Psych will be giving away Psych Magic 8 Balls and a specially created Psych comic book.

The novel, The Talisman by Stephen King and Peter Straub is being adapted into a comic book series by Del Rey Books. Issue #0 will be published in October 2009 but Del Rey will release a free black and white edition at the Random House/Del Rey Booth #1129.

A cool T-shirt will be given out by CapCom to promote Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, it looks like a normal, every-day black T-shirt with a basic "Let Your Darkside Out" image, but you can pull the T-shirt up over your head to reveal a very scary zombie face.

AMC's mini-series The Prisoner, based on the classic TV series will be giving away a special Marvel mini-comic, personalized Village identification badges and limited-edition items featuring familiar show slogans like “Be seeing you” and “I am not a number.”

Tired? Who cares if GB is tired! It's his job and he gets paid a pretty penny to walk and talk at the same time.

On the other hand, I hope some new 'material' comes out of these talk shows and not just the same regurgitated stories.

As to CC, have fun ladies.

You know, I have to say this. Nothing against GB, but I get tired of hearing about "poor Gerry" and how tired he must be. There are plenty of non-celebrities with normal jobs who work long hours and have to travel a lot. And most of these normal people are lucky if they get 3-4 weeks vacation per year. Actors don't work as many weeks per year as the average Joe. And celebrities have a lot of "help" when it comes to taking care of things - handlers, managers, assistants, nannies, dog sitters, errand runners, etc.

Give me a break.

People make time to do the things they want to do.

Maybe we should shoot a note to Gerry's people that Megan Fox is supposed to be at CC. I betcha that would get his attention. Especially if we add that she mentioned wearing a Slave Leia costume while she's there. Wink

Oh, and I broke down and told mom about San Diego this afternoon. I don't like to not let at least one person know when I'm going to be out of town.

Thinking of bringing my Mad Hatter hat to CC. I heard there's a party somewhere with an Alice in Wonderland theme (the actual restaurant where the party is being held has that theme as well...how cool is that?). It's too bad I can't meet Johnny Depp in person and take a picture of him wearing it. Wink

That's perfect! I arrive Wednesday at 12:30pm. We can hook up at the airport if you want...we have each other's cell numbers. I don't know which hotel you're staying in, but I have free shuttle from the airport to my hotel. I'm staying 13 blocks from the convention center.

I'm all about the freebies and the booths. Wednesday will be the best opportunity to see those, before the rest of the madhouse arrives. I also want to see San Diego - the beach and Gaslamp in particular.

Is Lugerry still going?

It has to be one of the easiest panels to put together, almost everyone is going to be there anyways.

It seems to me GB is too big for Gamer and us sci fi geeks, now that he's doing all of these romcoms with Heigel and Aniston, and hobknobbing it with the so called "posh" set. Wink

With that being said, I'm not particularly surprised about GB not making a showing - but I am surprised and somewhat shocked that Neveldine and Taylor aren't going to be there.

Zack Snyder is going to be there pushing Watchmen. I have to make a decision as to whether I want to see that or the Doctor Who screening.

Sunday is David Tennant/John Barrowman day. If I miss that, you will see a very PO'd kitty. Wink

Great...
We will have to go to the beach and Gaslamp district
Maybe we can meet some nice soldier boys LOL!!!
Lugerry is still going I don't know where she is now she
was going to the conan/premiere/ferguson etc...
She is getting a little out of hand but more power to her.
She is hooking up with SandyW. They are both east coast
people so they are here early I believe they will be driving
to SD from LA. Well now that they are having that screening
with Q&A on the 21st for TUT they might stay for that too.....??
Damm it, I wanna go too but I am nervous about how work is
slowing down I have to keep by boss happy....

Last I heard, that screening was sold out.

If there was anything happening in LA while I'm in SD, I'll admit I'd be tempted to rent a car and drive in...but alas there's not, so oh well. I guess I'll have to content myself with Kiefer Sutherland and David Tennant over the weekend. Wink

A member of Kevin Sorbo's group alerted me to this link:

http://www.lightspeedfineart.com/

It looks like there are quite a few people that are going to be at ComicCon that have yet to be listed on the CC website:

*Brent Spiner
*Nicole de Boer
*Garrett Wang
*Kevin Sorbo
*Bob Picardo
*Anthony Montgomery
and
*A Very Special Guest

I wonder who the special guest is going to be? I'm thinking maybe Wil Wheaton since he's listed to do some sort of CC related event off site, but I'm hoping it's Patrick Stewart. Then again, Nichelle Nichols was said to be attending CC as well, and she isn't listed on the site either. I guess I'll find out when I get there!

Really excited about Brent Spiner, I've wanted to meet him since TNG. I'm a big fan.

If they have a booth whats the problem with having Gerry
there. He can "rest" by just sitting on a stool in the booth!!
and have us adore him.... massage, manipedi etc...LOL!!!
Ok, I'm sounding a little bitter and I don't want to.
We will be plenty busy. I went thru the program last night
and highlighted everything I want to see and it is packed.
I think sunday "kids day" is a good day to loaf around

Awww, Sunday is my David Tennant day! There's the Doctor Who panel in the morning and Torchwood with John Barrowman on Sunday afternoon.

I'm still going through the schedule and trying to make decisions about what I want to see. I'm sure there will be a lull here and there to visit the city.

Hey, this blog says Megan is going to be there for both her movies

http://blogs.usaweekend.com/whos_news/2009/07/comiccon-2009-preview-megan-fox-iron-man-and-a-host-of-blockbuster-movies.html

Then there’s Megan Fox, who will actually be at Comic-Con for two movies. On a panel discussion for Jonah Hex, based on the disfigured comic book outlaw, she’ll appear with star Josh Brolin, and Fox will also take part in a special presentation for press of the horror comedy Jennifer’s Body, Oscar-winning writer Diablo Cody’s follow-up to Juno. In that, Fox stars as a high school cheerleader who gets possessed by a demon and starts killing all the boys in town. Horror and sci-fi fans are also looking forward to seeing what the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street is all about — specifically how the new Freddy Krueger, Jackie Earle Haley, looks in scare-inducing makeup; a preview of the biblically tinged Legion, starring Paul Bettany as the archangel Michael; and District 9, the alien drama produced by Lord of the Rings filmmaker Peter Jackson. (Jackson and Cameron will also be doing a future of filmmaking panel together.)

Hehe....this will be the male fanboy equivalent to the Twilight panel. Laughing I was actually thinking of going to the Jonah Hex panel to see if maybe Fassy would make a surprise appearance, but with Megan Fox being there, who knows how long that line is going to be. Shocked

I found out that Leonard Nimoy and Jonathan Frakes are supposed to be signing at the Lightspeed table as well. It isn't listed on the Lightspeed site, but it is in the exhibit file on the CC website. I'm wondering if either of these are the 'special' guest the site was referring to, or if someone else besides that is supposed to show...

Oh, and Hermie from the Sorbo site informed me that Kevin Sorbo will be there on Friday from 10am-2pm. That's his only day/time in CC.
