Due to the long list of movies being that have recently been made in Shreveport-Bossier and North Louisiana, many well-known film stars have been staying in local accommodation for extended periods of time. Visiting actors and celebrities often choose to stay at the Remington Suite Hotel, due to its attentiveness to detail, its employee discretion (i.e., no gossip) and its convenient downtown location.

The Remington has honored a former guest, Scottish actor Gerard Butler (300, Olympus Has Fallen), by naming a new room "The Gerry Butler Media Room." The name 'Gerry' is the preferred moniker of Butler used by old friends in Hollywood and new friends made in the two films that were shot in the Shreveport-Bossier area, Playing For Keeps and Olympus Has Fallen. The Olympus film grossed $161 million worldwide (including almost $100 million in the USA) and has also spawned a sequel filmed in London titled London Has Fallen, which will be released in March 2016.

"We were really happy that the Gerry Butler Media Room was used recently as a screening room for a short film competing for the Louisiana Film Prize," said Lark Goodwin, assistant manager of The Remington Suite Hotel.

Butler was very proud that the Remington hotel named the media room after him, and he gushed about it to late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel. In the same interview, Gerard Butler said he "loves" the city of Shreveport.

The unique space is versatile, according to the Remington's Goodwin: "The room is on the fifth floor and seats about 15 people and has also been used for football games and all sorts of interesting things," she added.

Situated in downtown Shreveport, Louisiana, the Remington Suite Hotel is easy to find, yet possesses a more private tucked-away feeling that is absent from most chain hotels.

The structure was built in 1907 and formerly housed a traditional family owned pharmacy. Completely renovated, the boutique hotel offers touches of the past with architectural features such as exposed brick and wood beams, while maintaining a modern sensibility. The lobby, anterooms and halls are tastefully decorated and show warm, eclectic design influences.

Another new feature for the hotel is the completion of a rooftop area that offers space for fitness quests such as yoga and Pilates. Live music can be heard on the roof from an assortment of regional bands during the 'Remington On The Roof' fall concert series. With its comfortable chairs and tables, the roof is a popular spot for hotel guests to relax and unwind.

"We recently had our first rooftop event and Highway Lines performed," Goodwin said. The assistant manager was on duty at the time of the event, but she said she was able to check in on the festivities on the rooftop. "Everyone was having fun," Goodwin said.

Twenty-two individually decorated suites are available, and they range from a compact standard suite all the way to a grande suite, which is a bi-level luxury space with a dramatic spiral staircase. No two suites are exactly alike, which adds to the unique cachet of the hotel. Some suites are contemporary, while others lean more toward traditional decorating styles. Remington guest services can expertly match a guest with the proper suite requirements. Four event spaces are available at the site, including the new Royale area, which is suitable for parties, receptions and presentations.
