Gerard Butler wears a furry brown coat while chatting with an individual on his cell phone speaker on Monday (February 17) in the East Village neighborhood of New York City.

The 44-year-old actor was seen out and about on Valentine’s Day, walking around wearing a different jacket.

His Hollywood heartthrob features generally melt hearts across the globe.

But something went awry for Gerard Butler's charisma status on Monday as he was spotted legging it through New York City wearing an awkwardly unflattering coat that look like a reject from the American Hustle wardrobe.

But the 44-year-old Olympus Has Fallen actor was nonetheless on a mission, pursuing a conversation via speakerphone as he made his way down the wintery street all by himself.

It was a tan coloured 70s style sheepskin garment that Gerard chose to keep himself warm, with buttons pulled together so tightly it looked ready to pop, and tufts of fluff poking out of every hole imaginable.

With a shirt poking out the top of the snuggly garment and light blue jeans completing the ensemble, it's safe to say it wasn't the actor's best wardrobe attempt.

Still, he is Gerard Butler, so thanks to a pair of steel-capped boots, suave sunglasses and his naturally rugged good looks, he could probably have been let off the hook for the style stumble.

The actor didn't look to have had much time to work on his hairstyle that morning as his brown tufts appeared somewhat slept on.

Apparently Gerard had places to go and people to see, so he didn't waste valuable walking time by simply walking; he multi-tasked by pressing his smart phone to his lips and talking into the speakerphone.

In spite of the red headphones dangling from the Playing For Keeps star's hands, he opted instead to use the device's speaker functionality to pursue a louder conversation with the individual on the other end.

Just days earlier, Gerard was thankfully spotted wearing a much more trendy jacket - a simple black hooded puffer coat - as he strolled the streets of New York City solo on Valentine's Day.

He was looking physically comfortable in his easy Adidas track pants, but emotionally it looked like Olympus really had Fallen on the star as his downtrodden expression suggested that he may spent the annual loved-up holiday alone.

Gerard is reportedly still on the market, as he split with his last girlfriend Madalina Ghenea in late 2013 and has not been snapped publicly with a new special lady since.

But perhaps the actor has simply has different priorities right now.

Back in December, Gerard traveled to Liberia to volunteer at a charity that provides a daily meal for hundreds of thousands of the world's poorest children.

During a four-day trip to the West African nation, Butler helped the cooks to prepare and serve meals to school pupils on behalf of global agency, Mary's Meals.

In order to help raise awareness about the important issues that third world countries like Liberia and their people face every single day, Gerard put together a video which documented his journey and released it on YouTube.

The video - only three minutes long - is worth a watch for a glimpse of the studly man in action as well as a valuable educational experience.
