Gerard Butler spends the day with the child stars of the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire in India on Saturday (May 2).

The five-star hotel festivities were all courtesy of the 39-year-old Scottish stud. How sweet!

Azhar Ismail (youngest Salim) and Rubiana Ali (youngest Latika) first met Gerard at the Oscars in February 2009.

Also pictured: Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra.

If you haven’t seem Slumdog Millionaire yet, why not?????

I find these photos disturbing. This is obviously a private, kind act that should have stayed that way.

But they posed for the pictures. If it were meant to be that private, I'm sure they could have made it so. No one got pics at Piggy's party, and the only pics that have surfaced thus far from the second party were from the car...nothing inside. Yet these surface.

I get the feeling GB can be "private" when he wants to be. This was good PR for him, and another chance for the tabloids to speculate whether him and Miss Chops are 'a couple'.

I hate to sound so cynical, but everything I've seen lately is appearing to be so shallow to me right now. I hope I'm wrong.

That is my whole point, Donna. Why can't more people do kind, charitable acts and not publicize it? 'Look at me! Aren't I a good person?' I view the party ones as simply another event with opportunity for all invited to get a bit of extra press time. But these, with the children, have potential to backlash.

If you look at one of these photos, you'll see a hand with a small personal digital camera. Were all of the photos taken by a professional or were they 'sold' by someone with an agenda? I'm guessing this meal lead to the latter result, a PR opportunity too good to pass on.

Don't mind me. I just have definite opinions about children and their accepting natures.

Weren't these children part of a movie, though? I guess their parents don't mind the publicity their kids get.

I just see it as part of the Slumdog wave right now. It's good PR for India and it's good continuing PR for the film which recently came out on DVD.

The recent parties also seem like networking and business in addition to pleasure.

Don't know about the travel and friends part. I could make some jokes, but I won't.

There is no need!! You all know what I am thinking.

But I am also not surprised about the release of the photos with the cute kids to Just Jared (and anyone else). He needed something else posted over there to distract from all the horrible comments regarding his rumored booty call, his supposed womanizing and frat boy behavior. The press and comments lately have been extremely negative and have made him look like a dirty old man with major issues. Add the Piggy Chops stalking and he was in need of some good press.

Now he looks like fun, kind, kid-loving actor who is treating a bunch of unprivileged kids to a day of treats....

Exactly, Dallas.

I do say, it gave us something to talk about today...

None of those scenarios crossed my mind when I looked at those pics. I did find it interesting that Pree was there, though.

I guess I'm still naive in a lot of ways.

The Scots heart-throb organised the treat at a five-star hotel as he tours India with a group of pals.

Butler had met the gang at this year's Oscars, where their British-produced film collected eight awards.

And he hooked up with them again in Mumbai on Saturday.

Included in the group were Rubina Ali, Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail and Ayush Mahesh Khedekar, who played the younger versions of the characters in the movie.

At one point, Butler even lifted Rubina - who played Latika in the movie and is perhaps the most recognised of all the children - up in the air so high that she could touch the ceiling of the hotel with her hand.

Cynics would say the PS... I Love You actor was using the family man image in a bid to seduce Bollywood babe Priyanka Chopra. The Indian superstar, who is a former Miss World, joined him at the lunch.

Glaswegian Butler, 39, who starred in sword-and-sandals epic 300, had been to a party hosted by the actress at her seaside home the night before.

And it was claimed that he was besotted by her.

Sources claim he was so smitten, he kept proposing to Priyanka every half an hour, although she would only burst out laughing.

Priyanka, 26, has been linked to two Bollywood actors, Hurman S Baweja and Shahid Kapur - but refuses to admit who she is dating.

Gerard Butler took time out from hitting on hot chicks to spend the afternoon with those "Slumdog Millionaire" kids in India this weekend.

The 39-year-old Scottish star did not purchase any of them.

Of course, there are reports he was only in India to get some face time with one of the country's most ridiculously sexy ladies -- Priyanka Chopra. According to a few Indian papers, Butler rolled through a party she was at where he was spotted doing some hardcore flirting.

We can't confirm if he scored in the end ... but it's Gerard Butler we're talkin' about -- so what do you think?!

Gerard Butler treats Slumdog Millionaire stars Rubina and Azhar to a five star day in Mumbai

Hollywood actor Gerard Butler showed his caring side yesterday as he treated the child stars of Slumdog Millionaire to a day out at an unnamed five star hotel.

The 300 star organised the jaunt for Rubina Ali Qureshi and Azhar Mohammed Ismail, who play the young Talika and Salim in the Oscar winning movie, as he toured India with a group of friends.

Butler, 39, first met the youngsters at the Oscars in February and has obviously taken a shine to them.

Earlier this month nine-year-old Rubina’s father Rafiq Qureshi was cleared by Indian police over allegations that he attempted to sell his daughter.

Qureshi was quizzed by the police on April 20 after the News of the World alleged he offered to auction off the nine-year-old for £200,000.

The accused protested his innocence throughout the scandal, claiming that the story was a ‘lie made up by foreign journalists playing games with me’.

Despite the scandal, Rubina seemed happier than ever as she larked around with her new pal yesterday.

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra was also at the Mumbai gathering and is rumoured to have been spending time with Butler during his trip.

The 26-year-old reportedly threw a farewell party for Butler on Saturday and the actor is said to have jokingly asked her to marry him.

My advice is to prepare him in the best possible way to see his mother go all giggly and coy at the drop of a Scotsman's 'Hello lass'. He must also keep his lips zipped when speaking to his father, now and at any time in the future. Wink

Way to make Danny Boyle look bad…After countless rumours (all denied) that the young stars of board-sweeping hit Slumdog Millionaire were left, well, slumming it in India after filming wrapped, Gerard Butler rocks up like an inexplicable super-hero and treats them to an all expenses bumper fun day out.

According to the Daily Mail, the 300 star organised the jaunt for Rubina Ali Qureshi and Azhar Mohammed Ismail, who play the young Latika and Salim in the smash, while on visiting India on holiday - fulfilling a promise he had made to them during an encounter at this year’s Oscar ceremony.

Could there have been an ulterior motive though? Also in presence was Bollywood stunner Priyanka Chopra. Whatever the case, Danny Boyle needs to up the stakes during his next visit.
