Want to be in "Law Abiding Citizen"?

Ever dream of working in the movies?

Tonight, Sharon Pinkenson, head of the Greater Philadelphia Film Office, will auction off a walk-on role in Law Abiding Citizen starring Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler. The auction is part of CityStyle, the third annual fund-raiser for the Gershman Y at Broad and Pine Streets.

Bidding will start at $500 and the shoot is tentatively scheduled for a cemetery on March 26.

OK, couple of things ... Why does it say Jamie Foxx's name before Butler? And, that's a lot of money in tight times, don't you think? Cemetery - holy crap - I'm intrigued now.

I got wind of this earlier today, but by the time I did it was too late to post it because the doors were already opening for the event/auction. I would suspect someone has probably already bought this.

Still...I'm not sure I'd want to PAY someone to be an extra, no matter what the movie is. I mean, it's not like extras get paid all that much anyway, but it is WORK and they should be paying the extras...not the other way around.

Now, if they wanted to auction off someone working as an extra for FREE, with the proceeds going to the charity...that might be a different story. Wink

Maybe I'm wrong, DK, but I thought that was the idea. I read it as they were having people bid money that would go to the charity, not that the movie industry would get the money the extra bids. scratch

Nay, it is frustrating that Gerry gets second billing to Jamie since Gerry has been with this movie longer and he is one of the producers. But the reality is, as much as we know and love Gerry, and as much as he has become more recognizable since 300, he is still not quite up to the big name level that Jamie is, not to mention that Jamie is a fairly recent Oscar winner. The movie business almost always markets movies with the actor who they feel is more recognizable and a bigger box office draw as being billed first, unless it is an ensemble or indie pic, and then they usually list names in alphabetical order. It's not fair to Gerry, but it's all about the business end of movie making, the money making. Also, Jamie's character is more associated with the protagonist/hero (though maybe a flawed one) role and Gerry's character is more associated with the antagonist/villian (though a wronged one) role. You tend to think of the hero as the first star of a movie often. So, that might have something to do with it too.

As for the cemetary, that could be a scene where Gerry's character visits the graves of his wife and daughter, or maybe their funeral. I guess we will see.

Who knows? Maybe the character Gerry plays is more meatier...

Half the time, it doesn't matter who they have on first. It's what the audience wants and talks about.
