Gerard Butler on why he’s the perfect man (for Boss Bottled)

Hollywood star epitomises brand’s ‘modern man’ aesthetic

By Rebecca Cope 2 September 2014

Boss Bottled, the Hugo Boss fragrance, is being rebranded as the fragrance for the ‘man of today’. The kind of man who is not only in touch with his emotions and his grooming regime, but who is also manly in the traditional senses of the word; chivalrous, strong and courageous. So who better to represent all of these qualities than Scottish actor Gerard Butler, star of films as diverse as 300, P.S. I Love You and The Ugly Truth?

"It’s got a playfulness and a seriousness to it, like myself," he says at the Boss Bottled launch event. "That’s why they picked me…"

The actor’s relationship with fragrance began – as with many men – as a teenager trying on his stepfather’s cologne: "It was like armour that I put on; I immediately felt sexy and cool. It was another way to express myself. You’ve got the clothes you wear, and you’ve got the fragrance you wear. It’s such a nice finishing touch. It’s like your best friend."

So, what advice does our resident fragrance expert give for women buying fragrances for the men in their life? "Keep the receipt!"

With Boss Bottled, you won’t have to.
