(KIKA) - LOS ANGELES - It seems that the passion for retro Gerard Butler is pushing to tack on a vintage car for its next sports car with four wheels, judging by the pictures that show him to ' Heritage Classic Company of Los Angeles in search of a new vehicle.

The American actor will star alongside Luke Bracey remake of Point Break , Kathryn Bigelow's cult film of 1991 .

Butler will play that have been the late Patrick Swayze, the popular leader of a gang of robbers who run their strokes wearing masks of U.S. presidents, as well as a skilled surfer.

He's certainly a driving force: Gerard Butler goes window shopping for classic cars in West Hollywood

As a reward for being one Hollywood's leading men, actor Gerard Butler is clearly happy to splash out for a well-deserved treat to himself.

The 44 year-old star was spotted in West Hollywood were he was window shopping a series of highly-collectible classic cars.

Browsing the range with an expert dealer, the big-screen idol looked spoiled for choice when he was spotted in the local dealership on Thursday.

The big-screen star looked cool as he browsed automobiles in West Hollywood

Wearing a pair of stonewash jeans a light blue shirt, the trained lawyer - who turned to acting in the 1990s - kept his cool with a pair of aviator sunglasses.

He also wore a collection of bracelets on his left wrist and capped the look with some well-worn leather boots for, perhaps ironically, something of a biker look.

At one point he spent considerable time eyeing-up a stunning vehicle in royal blue, but - despite this - he left empty-handed, perhaps to consider his options.

Fortunately, any sticking points were unlikely to be about money - after all, Gerard has enjoyed a stream of high-profile cinematic roles in recent years.

PS - I love cars: The Paisley-born actor looked at several models but seemingly left empty-handed

If the Hollywood rumour mill is anything to go by, Gerard is in talks to play Bodhi, an expert extreme-sports athlete and bank robber in Point Break – a role originally played by Patrick Swayze in Kathryn Bigelow’s 1991 movie of the same name.

According to entertainment website The Hollywood Reporter, the 44-year-old star is poised to sign on the dotted line.

The remake is reported to be set in the world of extreme sports rather than the surf scene of the original movie and Gerard, with his bulky, toned frame, was said to be first choice for the role.

The part of Utah, originally played by Keanu Reeves, has not yet been cast, although Reeves has already ruled out the possibility of starring in the remake telling BBC 5 live last month

‘Absolutely not,' he said at the time. 'It’s not my place. If they can find a way to do it that works out good, then God bless them.’

Gerard Butler Goes Classic Car Shopping

Being on one of Hollywood’s most in demand actors has it perks, thus it’s not at all surprising when Gerard Butler was spotted in West Hollywood looking at some highly-collectible classic cars.

Apparently, the famous actor was looking to buy himself a nice gift, a reward for the hard work. Thus, what can be more rewarding than a XK 150 Jaguar Coupe, XK 120 Roadster or a 1970’s Mustang.

The 44 year-old Scottish actor chatted with an expert dealer, probably to find out what car would suit him best and seemed to be quite interested in the stunning blue XK150 Jaguar. Unfortunately, he didn’t end up buying any of the cars but we’re pretty sure it wasn’t that the vehicles were to expensive for him as we’re talking about big-screen star with quite a large number of movies filmed and some more to come.

Still, we’re pretty sure we’re going to be seeing him in one such classic and gorgeous vehicle soon enough. Whatever his choice might be, he definitely has the looks for such Jaguars and Mustangs. He fits perfectly with that whole retro stylish roughness those particular cars have. We have to admit it , it’s a great way to spend your money.
