Touring the world promoting movies is one of the perks of being an A-list film star.

But with two high-profile careers to accommodate, Gerard Butler and his new girlfriend Madalina Ghenea are having to make keep their relationship alive long-distance.

While Gerard amused himself marvelling at the pyramids in Mexico on Monday, Madalina was busy taking in the sites of historic Rome.

Gerard visited his girlfriend - who he met in New York earlier in 2012 - in Italy about a week ago, sharing intimate moments in the romantic city together before having to travel again to promote his new film Olympus Has Fallen.

Squeezing in some personal time while in Mexico, the 43-year-old actor decided to take a leisurely bike ride on Tuesday, enjoying a few of the sights the significant city has to offer,

With Madalina promoting her new movie Razza Bastarda in Rome, Gerard was instead joined by a male friend and two female friends, the foursome matched on red ECOBICI cycles.


Ready for where the day may lead, the Scottish actor donned versatile clothing including a blue T-shirt, loose denim trousers and a pair of sneakers.

He also sported a pair of metal-rimmed sunglasses, taking them off when the sun's rays were bearable.

Before the group paused to pick a destination point, they cycled around a paved area filled with multiple trees.

During their break, one girl pointed her finger out in front, seeming to be guiding where they should go next.

But Gerard's tourist adventures haven't been limited to Mexico City.

On Monday, the actor tweeted: 'Spying the pyramids from pyramids- Teotihuacan, Mexico,' along with a clear view of the ancient landmarks.

Olympus Has Fallen stars Gerard as disgraced Secret Service agent Mike Banning, who finds himself trapped inside the White House in the wake of a terrorist attack.

Using his inside knowledge, Banning works with national security to rescue the President from his kidnappers.

The film was directed by Training Day’s Antoine Fuqua and the ensemble cast also includes Morgan Freeman, Angela Bassett, Melissa Leo and Dylan McDermott.

Gerard Butler: Biking Riding in Mexico!

Gerard Butler spends some time with friends while riding a bicycle on Tuesday (April 16) in Mexico.

The day before, the 43-year-old Scottish actor did some sightseeing and tweeted, “Spying the pyramids from pyramids- Teotihuacan, Mexico.”

Gerry is in town to promote his new film Olympus Has Fallen and was seen attending the premiere last week in Mexico City.

“I broke two little bones in my neck. I lost a fingernail – I banged it in a fight, and of all the injuries that I got, that was the most painful. It felt like someone took my finger and slammed it with a mallet,” Gerard shared about the injuries he sustained while shooting the flick.

He added, “I got a burn in my throat from a flicked cigarette (his throat was coated in glycerin), I bruised the back of my leg from my knee to my ass, and I chipped a bone in my forearm. The whole thing swelled up and went black.”
