'It was time for a break': Gerard Butler admits he went travelling for seven weeks to get over stress of filming Olympus Has Fallen

By Emily Sheridan

He's back on the promotional trail showcasing his latest film Olympus Has Fallen.
However, Gerard Butler admitted he's actually spent the past few months on the road travelling the world to recover from the 'stress' of shooting the action movie.
The actor spoke out on his recent escape as he attended the Russian premiere of the film on Thursday.

Looking dapper in a blue suit, the Scots actor joined his co-star Aaron Eckhart in Moscow.

Gerard admitted he spent the first two months of this year travelling and even spent time living as 'a monk' in Thai temples.
He told DigitalJournal.com: 'I've been making Olympus for a long time, so I thought it was time for a break. I decided to travel.

'In the past six or seven weeks, I have been to Scotland, England, Italy, Switzerland, Thailand, Mexico, Colombia - all for different reasons.
'But, mostly for travelling, just going to places and seeing friends... But, the real highlight for me was in Thailand, becoming a monk. I was hiding out in temples a lot.'
The film was more stressful than usual because Gerard was also producing it.

He explained: 'I have to tell you that sometimes, when you are producing and you feel that weight, it's tough.
'A couple of people were reminding me while we were in the middle of making it of how crazy I got.
'They would tell me about how insane I got and things I was saying. I would go, "Oh yeah, so I did."'
Olympus Has Fallen stars Gerard as disgraced Secret Service agent Mike Banning, who finds himself trapped inside the White House in the wake of a terrorist attack.

You know I'm sure that he was asked a question that elicited this response, but I don't feel bad for him and his stress. He makes millions and then takes a 7 week vacation. Even when he is busy and working 12-16 hours a day - it's for a finite amount of time. And he has everything personal done for him - his meals, clothing, errands etc. He can concentrate on work and everything else is handled by others. And he has a deadline and knows that the hectic work schedule is just temporary. I can endure anything if I know that it is temporary...

Cry me a river.

I had tried to post a similar comment, Dallas, but my computer was burping and wouldn't let me. Anyhow.....can't say that I have tons of empathy for HIS stress, and was wondering if he would pay for a round the world trip for me to alleviate mine! Wink
