Gerard Butler Celebrates His Birthday in San Francisco

Gerard Butler may be in Santa Cruz, Calif., for work, but the actor took time to celebrate his 42nd birthday with friends in nearby San Francisco. Butler, who's filming the surfer movie Of Men and Mavericks, and his eight pals hit up the Redwood Room inside the Clift Hotel for their low-key bash – so low-key there was no singing or cake. Still, a source tells us, the actor was "in great spirits." – Jennifer Garcia
