PostSubject: Re: Gerry's weirding me out!   Gerry's weirding me out! Icon_minitimeThu Jun 03, 2010 2:02 pm

I know I am getting into his personal life but I have been thinking the same thing. I have two places I call and absolutely feel at home right now. And as glad as I am to be at one, I miss the other when I am not there. That sense of home grounds me as a person. I also feel at home in a couple of cities where my close friends are, strangely enough.

GMan seems to spend very little time in Scotland (at least that I know of and I am a new fan) so do you think he feels at home there? Does he truly feel at home in all these places as he claims? Is he really making those personal connections that make those places home? We haven't seen pics of him with some of his regular friends in a while.

Maybe he doesn't need or want to feel connected to people or a place. I tend to get toooo attached to people and places so that would be hard for me to relate to. And for me, that sense of connection makes me a better person.

Whatever the truth is I just hope he is happy--which I wish for everyone.

wow, I gotta think about this one, but I agree with you about needing a place, where you truly call home. I thought most people did, but maybe I'm just naive.

Now Gerry? Maybe or is it obviously he can't stay in one place for too long. Maybe he's always been like that. I think he's said something to that effect in an interview, in the past. Again, I hope he can find peace and solitude somewhere and call it home.

Been weirded out since the release of "300" but that's just me.

Welcome to the weirded women's club.

Be happy that you've come to that conclusion sooner than later.

Ger, I think that that article talking about the brandy etc. was recapping Gerry's activities during filming. It was just part of the story of him returning to Belgrade - giving the story context. They weren't stating that that occurred on his return visit. Those translations can sometimes be confusing.

On this return trip he was reported as spending time with Marko Miskovic who is the son of one of the richest Serbian businessman (a billionaire). His was the yacht that Gerry was photographed on in Dubrovnik and he is one of the producers on Coriolanus. He also attended the b-day party of Zeljko Mitrovic - owner of Pink TV, Serbia's leading commercial station. He also was reported to be with a fellow Serbian actor and a Serbian singer. I'm not sure he was hanging out with the crew and common folk on this return trip - unless it was reported somewhere else and we haven't posted those articles. These people seem to be the extremely wealthy and/or famous celebrities.

As for him going to Moscow, I personally don't find it strange. He was invited and that owner of the gallery was in Cannes at the Eden Roc when Gerry was. That's probably how he got the invitation. Maybe while he was in Moscow he enquired about the real estate there. I believe the father of the gallery owner (that he was pictured with) has real estate as one of his various businesses. It probably was a topic of conversation. Who knows if he actually bought anything. He might have just enquired, like he did in Rio. In this economy, investing in real estate is probably safer than the stock market. That may be what he is doing - if it's even true.

I think Gerry is killing time before starting another movie and is just taking people up on invitations etc. Sounds like typical Gerry behavior to me, so I don't find it strange at all. His other behavior (the non-traveling type) is more odd, IMO. But that's just me.

Dal, thanks for straighening me out! I'm sure I don't know what we'd do without your efforts to bring us all the good, the bad and the ugly, perhaps the made up stuff too, of Gerard Butler. You are a never ending source of information. It must be exhaustive researching and digging up all that stuff.

Actually, I wasn't inferring that he got sick on his return trip. I'm fully aware it was on his first one. I'm sure you just misunderstood. I was referring back to the incident previously where he had to go to the hospital with the high blood pressure.

Quote :

My mention of Gerry enjoying the regular people came from the article here on the site I believe YOU posted. And I never said he didn't hobnob with the rich and famous either.

I said:

Quote :
I've always felt that Gerry liked the common folk more so then the elite. He spent several days on the French Riviera and then in Moscow among the Russian upper crust then back to Serbia to hang with local crew and staff from the film. That's sort of strange that he did that but maybe if he had time to kill, it was a good place to do it.

I was referring to this from your previous post:

Quote :
The Hollywood actor reportedly recently came back to Serbia in a private arrangement, because of his positive impressions of the people and the night life that he has experienced during the shooting of the film “Coriolanus.”

He traveled secretly for days and enjoyed with the film crew of Coriolanus a number of restaurants and clubs. What is most interesting, is that his visit was not reported to any of the girls that were connected to him during filming,” said the source of Alo.

But I can see where that would make him seem a little less shallow and superficial. And I didn't know about the BD party until after I had written my post.

And with regards to his "alleged" purchase of property there, that is the word I believe I used too. That was also from an article posted here somewhere.

I'm sure you meant your post in the best possible spirit and you are very knowledgeable about Gerry. I find it fascinating too that you go to all the trouble to find all this information on him, but really don't seem to like him very much. I'm just wondering why anyone would waste their time.

The day that I am totally disgusted with Mr. Butler is the day I won't bother any more. Life is too short and too precious. And I won't be going to all the trouble trying to convince the rest of the world or whoever will listen, that he's not worth the effort. That, I would think, would look even more strange and obsessive then the time and effort the so called "phannies" spend in idol worship of him, wouldn't you think? But, hey, that's just me.

Ger - I was specifically refering to the articles that actually mentioned the people he was seen with. Marko Miskovic was a producer on the film and the other (who I think may have been the guy with the beads in the club) was an actor on the film. That article may have been refering to those two. I was stating that we didn't have any additional info on others that he may have been hanging out with, so I didn't know. The point of my post was to state that he seems to be doing the same thing he has done the past several weeks in various cities, i.e hanging out with the very wealthy and celebs so that was why I didn't find it odd and it wasn't weirding me out. It wasn't an attack on your opinion or your original post. It was a response about what I personally thought about his traveling etc.

I was in no way implying that your opinion or the fact that this man's recent activities were weirding you out was in some way invalid. You posted a new thread and I assumed you would welcome opinions. I posted my opinions on the topics that you brought up. And then I stated that I thought his non-traveling activites were more odd to me and again stated that this was my opinion. I'm sorry if you thought that my opinions on those topics were in some way as personal attack on yours or that I was trying to negate them in some way. However, short of just agreeing with you on everything, I'm not sure how to avoid giving you that impression - if that is what I am doing. I have already stated that it is just my opinion and have stated throughout that I personally think this or that. I am not stating it as fact or trying to persuade anyone else. I hope that I have not given you that impression.

As for why I post all this info - it started when DK started the site and I was helping her out. She appreciated it, and I have continued. I have a photographic memory and can easily tell if a story is new or just being reported by another outlet. I post my opinions on what I think about the "news" that is out there at the time, or a specific interview, or a specific incident. It doesn't take me much time to post my opinion. I don't start threads about other more in depth discussions or other in depth thoughts on the man because quite frankly those take more time and don't interest me as much.

The fact that you think I don't like him very much and then start talking about if and when you are disgusted with him you wouldn't go to the trouble of trying to convince the rest of the world that he isn't worth the effort etc. seems to imply that you think that is what I am doing. I assume that is because you don't agree with some of my thoughts on various things that I have posted. That is fine. It is my opinion and you don't have to share it. But I think you have the wrong impression of me and obviously have not been here long enough to see all my posts.

I like this forum because I can say what I want, good and bad. I don't agree with everyone's opinons and people don't always agree with mine but we have great discussions and it is never personal. I hope that you won't ever take anything that I say as personal against your thoughts or feelings. And I also hope that you will not judge others if they do not express the same sentiments that you do. I have seen some posts questioning why someone would post etc. or questioning if someone really is a fan etc. and quite frankly, it comes across as judgmental and scolding. I prefer not to see that here. Again, this is JMO and I am posting to you because you have adressed me and asked me these questions.

I know both Nay and I stated this on another thread just a few weeks ago, but it appears to need reiterating:

This is not the place to judge another person's fandom or reasons for being on this forum.

Members, I have been very lenient in comparison to other forums with regards to what gets discussed here, but it appears the bounds of my leniency are being tested of late. And lately I've noticed a shift in atmosphere around here, and not in a direction I want it to go.

As much as I love to get down and dirty with all of you here, as site owner there are times I have to step back and put on the "mean moderator" cap and piss everyone off. Unfortunately, this is one of those times.

Please be mindful of others before you post something. If that means rereading, stepping away for a few minutes and coming back, etc, it's worth it because once the words are out there, they can't be taken back (I know this from experience). Everyone thinks differently, we don't all have to agree to be here, but what I'm asking is to treat others with the same respect you'd expect them to treat you.

Due to a boatload of real life stuff and also due to the fact my work blocks this site, my time here has been more limited than in the past (and perhaps more than it should be). I didn't worry about it too much because it was never an issue before....is it going to become an issue now?

Also, I would prefer if members have a personal issue with each other, they take it to PM first, either to that person or to myself and/or Nay. I don't want this forum to become a place of bickering, scolding, offense and hurt feelings. If I wanted that, I'd go to an unmoderated or semi-moderated message board where "anything goes".

So PLEASE....let's all step back and take a deep breath.

This is a forum for an actor who puts donuts in his ass cheeks. Do we need to take everything so seriously? Have fun, for pete's sake!

One thing I can say for sure, I'm not "weirded out" anymore. Many things I didn't understand make perfect sense to me now except this sudden craving I'm having for Krispy Kremes!

Dunkin Donuts is having a free donut day next week. Do you think GMan will be in the states to get his free one?
