Did this really happen? I haven't heard the Scott Mills interview, so I don't know....

Gerard Butler sick after eating scene

Source:[Tribute.ca] Time:[GMT Mar 13 2010 5PM]

Gerard Butler ate 27 burritos during one scene in his latest movie. The Scottish actor stars opposite Jennifer Aniston in new romantic comedy The Bounty Hunter. One the first day of shooting, Gerard made himself sick because he is so bad at pretending to eat, he ended up gorging on the food. 'It’s funny because there’s a way to learn to eat on camera where you just put small amounts in your mouth and make it look like you’re eating a lot,' he explained to BBC Radio 1 presenter Scott Mills. 'I’m not very good at that, so that first day I literally had 27 burritos. It was a scene in a restaurant, and I’m just stuffing them in, pouring hot sauce all over them too and chowing them down. Every scene I had to start with a fresh one. By the end of that day I was so ill, but it had to be real.' Gerard says food is an integral part of his character, a bounty hunter who is paid to arrest his ex-wife, played by Aniston. The star insisted on having something to munch on in nearly every scene, even though the director didn’t think it was necessary. 'The eating is supposed to be in the film but there’s always a choice and I do remember the director saying, ‘You know, you don’t have to eat in every scene’ But I just said, ‘Look, it’s important. I need Doritos in this scene and a burrito in this scene…’'

It was a way for him to get those carbs he craves...

Usually, actors don't eat the whole food they are eating on screen. Like he said, he had to start with a new one during each take.

That article reads odd. It sounds like Gerry eats in every scene in the movie. He ate in every take of the scene where he was eating.
The interview on Scott Mills made more sense than this written account.
