Wasn't Brahma who sponsored his trip, or was that a different beer company? I thought I read that he got paid $500,000 to show up (in the first article I posted about him going to Carnival) by a beer company. Maybe that wasn't Brahma.

Gerard Butler shows that neither knew that he had been invited by brewery

Butler on the dance floor of the cabin: he says he did not know that was brand of beer in an interview with column Mônica Bergamo, Gerard Butler revealed that just found out that Brahma, who received him in his box at Sapucaí in Rio de Janeiro, was a brand of beer after he negotiated the coming carnival.

In a note published on Tuesday, 16, said neither he drinks: "I used to drink a lot, but stopped in 2000. You know I just found out that Brahma was a drink last week? Was when I was hitting my coming and said that I would have to wear the shirt. Then I saw that it was alcohol!

Check out the coverage of the TC during Carnival 2010.

Partial quote of a different blog on carnival translated below;

Quote :
Connection is stronger actor Rodrigo Santoro. When asked about the actor Gerard Butler, he calls "Gerry", says: "Talk to him, is supergente-good. I'm not his spokesman." A friend offers a glass of beer, but Butler refused the draft. The column speaks to him:

LEAF - not like beer?
GERARD BUTLER - I do not drink.

LEAF - Nothing?
BUTLER - I used to drink a lot, but I stopped [in 2000 after problems with alcohol abuse]. You know I just found out that the Brahma was a drink last week? It was when I was hitting my coming and said that I would have to wear the shirt. Then I saw that it was alcohol!

LEAF - And you took pictures of Ronaldo. She's a fan?
BUTLER - Ah, yes. He is amazing, a great guy. I like football. I cheer for Celtic (Scotland). I used to play football and track, but now living in Los Angeles, is very difficult to find a game to see. Television does not show. It's just baseball, football ... And I hate all these sports!

I hope that "hate" was only in the translation, especially when it comes to baseball, cuz them there's fightin' words...

First Gillette, and now this...doesn't he or his people research this stuff they say okay to before accepting an invitation? Somebody needs to do their homework before just foolishly accepting any invitation to a party, for the sake of a party. Then again, he did back out of the razor thing. I guess they weren't paying his way, though. Rolling Eyes

Open Google, type "Brahma", see lots of entries with "Brahma Beer", realize the sponsor Brahma makes beer. Duh!

GB can't afford ESPN?

It's the fault of his people, they should have known better. His people fail.

I went back to the translation and don't know if he used the word 'hate', but they used 'odeio' which is 'I hate'. If they would have printed, 'no gosto', it would have been better, meaning, "I don't like" or "I don't care for".

I hate American football. I am using the correct word.

His people didn't fail. These are the same people who stood with him and took pictures of him snogging the violinist in the street, yes?

Probably not. The people in the office making the arrangements, are probably not the same people walking in his posse.

He needs new people in the office. Apparently they don't know he's quit drinking and likes to keep his beard so they engage a beer brewer and a razor manufacturer. That or they are getting direct kickbacks to get GB to endorse those products, in addition to their contract cut.

They're not looking out for GB.

I can't imagine that Alan, his manager, would not be involved in these deals before bringing them to Gerry. Anyone on his team should know these details. Hell, his fans and anyone who has a computer or reads knows that he is a teetotaler and knows what movie he is preparing for and getting ready to film. So I don't know what the hell is going on with them. Then again, they probably think being pap fodder is good for one's career.

It seems the sum of money that was offered was something that they considered more than the product that was being endorsed or any considerations/details surrounding that endorsement. Is it amateur night or something? I'm just stumped.

Butler, call me if you need a detail gal.....

(edit: funky formatting)

Or the repurcussions of the endorsement on his already shakey reputation.

Exactly. The devil is in the details. Haven't they ever heard that saying? Aren't they supposed to be the "detail" people?
And I'm not letting Gerry off the hook either. Gerry should use his noodle - the one between his ears, not his legs - and not just blindly accept what is put in front of him. He's a grown man, and is responsible for what he does and the decisions he makes and those that others make on his behalf.

Somebody please put me on the payroll. I would have things in order before you could say "dirty sanchez"...... Very Happy

*I was going to say "clusterf/ck" but the other word made me chuckle, so you got it instead. It was either that or "mooseknuckle". Since they both are appropriate when speaking of Gerry gaffes, I had to toss a coin.

Yeah, I'm not saying Gman's off the hook either, especially if he can be on the phone 24/7.

I mean, if someone wanted me to go on a paid trip for a product, I'd like to know what it is, because it might be condoms or chicken feed. Not that I'm against either, just sayin'.

But I think, from what I've seen how his people handle him, that Gman depends way too much on them, and they fail.

He does need to think outside his 'art'.

And what I'm seeing more and more is that he uses the "clueless" excuse quite a bit in order to do what he wants to do without having to accept the consequences. In fact, he tends to use a lot of excuses, period.

Look, I could care less if the guy drinks or not, or if he goes to a beer sponsored event or not, what his reasons are for not being married or having a girlfriend or a boyfriend or whatever, etc. But for goodness sakes, quit making excuses and trying to convince everyone that it's everyone else's fault, or that he didn't know. If I thought the man was a clueless dummy, I might believe it. But I don't, so I don't.

I do have to add, after thinking about it, he's been to Brazil several times, so what's the excuse? Just because you don't drink anymore doesn't mean you're not aware of what's around you. How does he order food? Isn't there a list on the menu of alcohol? He doesn't recognize the name? And he's stopped drinking now 10 or more years? Brahms has been around longer, so it doesn't make sense that he doesn't know anything about it, unless he's been coddled by his people. If he plans on buying a place in Brazil, he'd better start learning the language and culture or he's going to get into a lot more trouble.

Just sayin'
