Perhaps boats and lighthouses are a bit too suggestive, so it might be better if I scribbled barns----and silos. lol

Even my naughty ones (that I've posted, anyway ) aren't all that naughty.

| Well, it's official. Any pretensions I had about being a "fine" artist have gone the way of the dodo. I have even slipped below the term Sunday painter. I am a paint whore. For the possibility of making a few sordid coins, I am reduced to painting----------------Out houses. ****giggle*** Here's the first. If it actually sells, it may be the first of several. I could become the outhouse queen! OK, it's a "country-fair" booth. I'm also putting in a couple of barns. First time I've had fun painting in years. I just wanted to share my fall into redneck humor. (yea, I know, I AM a redneck. ) | |

| That is such a deceptively simple watercolour, Shar. Well done! I would love to see one of your barns or a covered bridge or a broken down fence. | |

| A water color outhouse that I can tell is an outhouse. Amazing!
Well, Bella, considering how many people hang paintings and other artworks in their bathrooms, a really pretty outhouse painting will definitely be appropriate.
Fine art is great. Making a living with fine art is possible for a very few people at a time. Like being an A-list actor, a bestselling author, a professional athlete, a top corporate CEO, a Senator, a Catholic Cardinal, or a supermodel.
The rest of the people do popular art. Shakespeare didn't write literature, he wrote vulgar common popular (for the people) plays. Mozart wrote popular music of the time.
I digress.
How about a covered well? Gazebos? Romantic promenade?
Are you keeping a catalog of items sold, price, location, maybe client? Is that called provenance?

| Sharbella,
Been busy and haven't been around but I love the outhouse but I love your nautical scenes, too. I have a nautical theme in a couple of rooms in my house. You are very talented. I think you will do very well at the fair!

| Well, after doing a few more paintings, and a couple of very short stories ( for a Halloween story contest) my "muse" is almost gone. Almost time to turn back into a non-creative pumpkin. (Unlike Julie's very creative pumpkins ) At least it's the right time of year for it. I've done a couple of barns and outhouses and deer for sale at the country fair. But I notice that my water color scribbles are getting simpler and simpler. Like this Even my lighthouses are barely there. And my last, very sketchy, non-romanticized outhouse sets in the snow. (you just KNOW it's wet and nasty in there.----probably has critters living in it.) Maybe my muse will return with the Spring. | |

| I've only made 2 good pumpkins on my own, and they're fake. Haven't done a real one since I was a kid and my mom scooped the innards.
This outhouse doesn't quite compare with the previous one. It does feel a lot like seasons changing from lush to stark. The lighthouse one is more a rough seascape with lighthouse.
Now, the fishermen one really catches my eyes. It is smooth and cohesive. No jarring rough-paint patches. Very much a simple hazy morning fishing trip. I can see that on a greeting card or book cover. Beautiful!
Looking at the 3 in posting order, this is what I imagine you're thinking: Fishermen: I'm feeling good. I'm painting! Lighthouse: Sky. Sea. Needs something. Salt shaker...no...lighthouse. Outhouse: Got some green leftover, a little gray and yellow, some brown...zzzzzzzzz...
You know I love your work, right?

| Ah Hum. In honor of the old southern tradition of turning over outhouses (preferably not occupied at the time) on Halloween, I offer this one for the more nostalgia minded. Julie, is this one a little less "crappy" (pun intended) than the last? It was really "number two" of the three. | |
