6 Year Old Girl With Brain Cancer Hid Love Notes for Parents to Find After Her Death
After 6-year-old Elena Desserich was diagnosed with brain cancer, she hid love notes for her parents to find after she was gone. Just before her sixth birthday, Elena Desserich was diagnosed with brain cancer and died in 2007.
But after her death, Elena’s parents, Brooke and Keith, found hundreds of notes from Elena hidden around the house — in between CD cases, between bookshelves, in dresser drawers—little love notes from their sick daughter to comfort them. According to her parents:
It just felt like a little hug from her, like she was telling us she was looking over us.

| This is beautiful. What a wonderful gift to her parents. I lost my mother in August to breast cancer. I can't begin to express how much I wished she had left notes for us, but towards the end there, she just wouldn't have felt up to it. | |

| My sincerest condolences to you, Emily. Losing a parent is something I experienced as a child but I suspect it would be more difficult to do so as an adult. | |
