A Little Night Music

People like to read about people.... am I right?? Reminds me of that old Barbra Streisand song that went...." People.... people who need people.... are the luckiest people in the world." That makes me lucky, I guess. Being a hard core 'people person', I can't seem to get enough of people.... and I have processed thousands in my life. Last night, sitting on the top deck of a yacht just off Chowpatty, chatting with Nandita Das in Bengali, I experienced such a mellow glow, I thought I would light up! It was a beautiful clear night, and I could see the lights of fishing craft miles away , the tide was coming in, making the yacht pitch from time to time.... looking over my shoulder, I could admire the Queen's Necklace in all its glory. Mumbai resembled a bejewelled empress... it was easy to forget its ugly underbelly. Mumbai casts a spell on me periodically.... I love the city unconditionally anyway, but I turn to absolute mush on nights like this one. Nandita is a Dilliwalli. No wonder her hindi is impeccable. Hritik Roshan, seated to her left , commented on how his own hindi was kuchcha when he made his first film. "We grew up with parents who believed their children must know English!" He also confessed he didn't know how to dance and worked really, really hard on his moves during '' Kaho na Pyaar Hai." Incroyable!! How fluid a dancer is the man now??? Practice, he said. Nothing but practice. Sure. Hritik was looking smashing ( the Cannes tan suits him ), and his wife Suzzanne ( Persian flower) has obviously dealt with the white ants (aka Barbara Mori successfully. They looked relaxed and happy together, with much marital banter going back and forth in a natural, unaffected way. It emerged Hritik sings himself to sleep! His own lullaby??? And he has sung a song in 'Kites'. Now all our desi superstars want to sing their own songs - par kyon?? Suzzanne sings too. And dances. So does Nandita. That left Gerard Butler, who arrived later and was jumping on a plane back to LA a few hours on. He'd done the complete Bharat Yatra , from Hrishikesh to Kanya Kumari, with Agra and Varanasi thrown in. After drinking 'pure' Gangajal at Hrishikesh, straight from the river, the poor man was left violently ill. But not ill enough not to come on board a yacht anchored in a choppy, pre-monsoon sea to say au revoir to a destination (and a person?) he has clearly fallen hard for. When I left, Nandita was melodiously singing , " Kabhie na jao chhod kar......" but to me.... not Gerard! Ha ha.

Butler, if you wanted to drink dirty river water, we have the muddy Mississippi right here in the States. Rolling Eyes

The man won't drink alcohol, but he'll drink feces incrusted river water. Holy water my foot. There are much better (and safer) ways to get in touch with your spirituality. Even Paul the Apostle said to 'drink a little wine for thy stomach's sake'....most likely because he knew the water could be unsafe to drink.

Oh dear. See what happens when he tries to stay clean and wash his sins away, ladies!

BTW, this blogger? He/she/it leads the reader into believing that his Lordship has just left the sub-continent yet a Twitter has placed him eating in Edinburgh and jogging in Los Angeles.

Who to believe? Who to believe? I blame Twitter for everything.

If the story is true, I would say it didn't just happen, but probably happened a few weeks ago.

Still, if he did get sick, that might explain the whole 'flying under the radar' bit. The Indian press was ruthless in their pursuit of him while he was there. I doubt they'd just quit reporting about him all of the sudden, if he had stayed there after the Olive Bar thingy. Besides, I can't see him staying there for a month. Maybe he got sick and went home to mum? Laughing

As far as Twitter goes, the dude that said he was having dinner with him, it might not have been him at all. Maybe it was another guy with the same name. And the woman in LA, maybe it was an inside joke or something, and she didn't mean it literally. Then again, I'd believe the Tweets over the Indian press. The Indian press has a lot more to gain by making up stuff than some obscure random person on Twitter, who isn't posting things for anything other than a personal diary of sorts.

That woman is one of the people that he has socialized with in Dubai, India and I think even in the US at the Oscars etc. I tend to believe her over the Twitter twits - and she did say that it happened last night, but who knows. Because it is on her Facebook page instead of the Indian Press, I give it more credence.

Whatever the case, that's one long vacation. Maybe he's preparing himself for the sh/t storm that will take place in the media and tabloids once he starts filming the movie with Aniston.

Oh, I do see now that she said it happened last night. Then again, did she write it last night? I didn't look at her Facebook thingy, only the blog.

I'm surprised there isn't other news about this, though...and pictures...

Maybe he eloped with Priyanka and had a secret wedding. lol!

DK - sorry I meant to say her "blog" instead of her "Facebook". In any event, I believe that over the Indian Press. But I think that I confused her with another woman who has been at several events with Butler. This woman is a writer. So I don't know......

Sometimes I wish I had a better way of tracking who lurks on this site. The reason I say so is because someone wrote a comment on JustJared that there is "talk in NY that Gerry secretly got married in India". It kinda makes me wonder if the person who wrote that particular comment on JJ isn't a same certain Norwegian chick who is involved in a certain blog. When the supposed booty call text story was floating about a few weeks ago, there was talk on JJ that she was actually the one planting a lot of the comments over there to get things stirred up. And now this. And the reason I wonder who lurks here is - if you'll scroll up a few posts - I jokingly posted that maybe Gerry secretly married Priyanka while in India. Coincidence?

I sometimes check her Twitter page, and it would seem she didn't "vacation in Scotland" like she said she was going to. I think this chick is trying to blow smoke up our arses.

Another interesting thing...my personal site has been bombarded these past few days with visits from Washington, D.C....the same place both she and her friend are said to be for the weekend. And since many people go from the Pantry to my personal and vice versa site via links, etc....which is why I say, I really need a better way to track visitors to the forum.

Maybe I'm being a bit paranoid, but I wouldn't put it past her to post something like that on JJ, just to stir the pot. Or maybe she's wondering why he didn't rush home to her when he left India. Laughing

Given her age, that's highly possible, DK.

Seems that Gerry has moved on, anyway.
