Gerard Butler Says “Good Morning America”

Brightening up everyone’s week, Gerard Butler paid a visit to “Good Morning America” in New York City this morning (October 22).

The “PS I Love You” hunk looked dapper in a dark suit as he mingled with his loyal fans before sitting down to talk about his new film “Chasing Mavericks.”

“When you come across a story like this, it’s very inspiring. It’s a very moving powerful story and I thought this is the perfect opportunity for me to tell a story that appeals to everybody,” the 42-year-old Scott said about the film.

“This is the kind of movie that makes you want to eat up life,” Butler added.

In the film, Gerard also tackled the tough sport of surfing. When describing the experience, he said, “It’s the first time I really read something and said, ‘ok that explains to me how hard it is to become a surfer. How dangerous it actually is, and how exciting it is.’”

Gerard Butler arrives at ABC Studios in Times Square for an appearance on Good Morning America on Monday (October 22) in New York City.

The 42-year-old actor chatted about his new film Chasing Mavericks, which opens in theaters this weekend.

“When you come across a story like this, it’s very inspiring, very moving, powerful story. I thought this is a perfect opportunity, one for me to learn how to surf, two to tell a story that I think appeals to everybody, from kids to grownups,” Gerard said. “It’s the kind of movie that makes you want to eat up life and go and do something.”

Gerard Butler Recalls Near Death Surfing Accident - Watch!


Gerard Butler is all smiles as he leaves his hotel on Monday afternoon (October 22) in New York City.

Earlier in the day, the 42-year-old actor made an appearance on Good Morning America to chat about his new film Chasing Mavericks and recalled a near death surfing accident that occurred while filming.

“That’s crazy!” Gerard said while watching a clip of the accident. “Even when I see that it brings back memories. I was down and I just didn’t come back up, really. I started to think ‘wow I’m going to die making a movie.’”
