Aniston, Butler find laffs at Columbia
Andy Tennant to direct bounty hunter comedy

By MICHAEL FLEMING, TATIANA SIEGEL

Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler are in negotiations to topline an untitled bounty hunter project at Columbia.

"Hitch" helmer Andy Tennant is attached to direct the comedy, which centers on a bounty hunter (Butler) hired to retrieve his ex-wife (Aniston), who has skipped bail.

Sarah Thorp, whose most recent bigscreen credit is the Ashley Judd starrer "Twisted," penned the script.

Studio is eyeing a May start date.

Neal Moritz is producing through his Sony-based Original Films shingle.

Aniston, who next stars in the Christmas Day opener "Marley & Me," has three films in the can: "He's Just Not That Into You," "Traveling" and "Management," which she also produced.

"300" star Butler, who most recently appeared in "RocknRolla" and "Nim's Island," will next be seen in the thriller "Game" and the romantic comedy "The Ugly Truth" opposite Katherine Heigl.

Tennant most recently helmed the Matthew McConaughey-Kate Hudson topliner "Fool's Gold." He also is attached to direct "Chasing Harry Winston."

Okay, I wonder if the Goree Girls project was just speculation with regards to Gerry's involvement. I am more likely to believe this is the project that they are working with since Andy Tennant, Jennifer, and Gerry all had dinner together and Andy is the director of this film. Also there were pictures of Gerry, Alan and Andy around that time too.

I have to confess, I'm relieved if he is not going to play a Texan afterall. Although I could have had some fun if the filming was going to be in Texas....

Maybe Jen will run to Dallas to hide and Gerry's bounty hunter character will have to follow her down here. I'll be his sidekick and pack some heat. It will give me a legitimate excuse to do that running around downtown....

Maybe Gerry got word that Dallas was going to come after him if he butchered up the Texan accent, so decided not to do Goree Girls for fear of being shot in the foot.

But I tell you now...if he sports a mullet like Dog the Bounty Hunter, I'm going to come after him myself. No

I hope Gerry doesn't turn into the Rom-Com guy.

This could be good if it is a la "Midnight Run". Loved that movie, but it was two guys not an ex-couple. I'm sure there will be bickering and the eventual falling for each other again.

I kind of think it would be funny if Gerry was kind of rough, maybe not sporting a mullet, but maybe some tatoos and if Jen looked hard and trashy. THEN it wouldn't be so predictible and could be really funny!!

[Oh yeah, and Gerry needs to keep his accent in this one. He can just be kind of a thuggy Scottish bounty hunter - who sports a gun!! (yea!) ]

hmmm...that's funny, because every since I joined the fandom, majority of fans wanted him to do rom-coms. I don't care for them, either.
