Gerard Butler Packs A Big 'Gun'

Up until now, Gerard Butler's cinematic output has favored big explosions over heavy emotions, but in Machine Gun Preacher, Butler combines the two for one of the year's most explosive (both visually and topically) movies.

The true life tale (out September 23) casts Butler as Sam Childers, a former drug-dealing criminal who undergoes an astonishing transformation and finds an unexpected calling as he heads to East Africa in a home-building mission. Confronted by the unspeakable acts of violence inflicted upon the region's young, Childers stands up, becoming the savior to hundreds of kidnapped and orphaned children.

Directed by Finding Neverland's Marc Forster and co-starring Michelle Monaghan, Kathy Baker and Michael Shannon, Machine Gun Preacher is one of this fall's most important movies! And if you like that exclusive image above, click here to watch the trailer.
