Neil Lennon and The View belt out Oasis hits at charity bash

Aug 14 2011 Exclusive by Lauren Crooks, Sunday Mail

CELTIC boss Neil Lennon stunned guests at a top hotel by belting out Oasis hits in the early hours.

The Parkhead manager joined The View stars Kyle Falconer and Pete Reilly for the 4am singalong in Glasgow's Radisson Hotel.

But the fun was stopped when a killjoy member of staff confiscated their guitar.

The lads had been partying to celebrate the success of the Celtic v Manchester United Legends match. All of the big-hearted stars had helped raise £500,000 for charity in Tuesday night's game.

Lennon and Co were joined by actor Gerard Butler, Westlife star Nicky Byrne and telly host Patrick Kielty at the after-party. The celebs had all played at Parkhead.

One guest said: "The lads were all in high spirits and there was a brilliant party atmosphere.

"They were happy chatting away to fans who all wanted to talk about the game. All the players and the stars had given their time for free so they were entitled to let their hair down a bit.

"But the big surprise was Lenny's voice when he started singing with The View boys - it was sensational. He was belting out Cigarettes And Alcohol and then they started doing some View numbers.

"Unfortunately for them not everyone saw it that way and their guitar ended up getting nabbed by staff."

The guitar had been borrowed from members of Nottingham band The Establishment managed by former Celtic and United star Dion Dublin.

They had kicked things off by playing a few of their own songs in the hotel's bar.

But they agreed to call it a night when a resident called reception and complained he couldn't sleep.

The guest said: "There had been a good few drinks downed and maybe the party had gone on a wee bit too long. It was definitely time for some of the boys to go home. We've all been there when you're having a good time and just don't want the night to end.

"It maybe needed the guitar to disappear just to bring an end to things. There were loads of unlikely new friendships which came out of the game everyone was getting on like a house on fire.

"Big Gerard Butler had people in stitches with some of his stories."

Tuesday's match raised cash for charities such as Oxfam's famine relief programme in East Africa.

A crowd of 55,000 saw Henrik Larsson score a hat-trick on his return to Glasgow.

It was a testimonial for defender John Kennedy, whose career was ended by injury.

He asked for gate receipts to be donated to good causes.

Last night, a spokeswoman from the Radisson declined to comment
