The 41-year-old actor, wearing Body Glove’s “Vapor” wetsuit, hit the beach again to check out the waves.

Earlier in the week, Gerard showed off his fit physique while changing near his car after an afternoon of surfing with some pals.

Though there’s been talk about Gerard possibly starring in the big screen adaptation of Diana Gabaldon’s “Outlander,” the author herself is eying another Scottish star.

“I don’t think it is the best idea to pick an actor who I think looks like [lead character] Jamie,” she said. “That’s why there are casting directors who can bring the role to life and embody the character. That means you need a really good actor, such as Ewan McGregor, to play the part.”

It's hard as hell to quit.

I suppose I should have said "quit and stay quit and stay skinny!"

I'd rather be a bit on the heavy side than be skinny and have cancer. Fat on a body is much more attractive than cancer on a body.

Speaking as a former smoker, why would you quit for that long and then start back up again? Once the nicotine is out of your system, there's no intelligent reason to pick up another cigarette and then have to go through all of the torture of quitting again. My brother did that, and I can't understand why.

Is it possible to smoke and not become addicted?

DK, it's a huge credit to you that you quit and didn't go back, because it's an addiction that's harder to kick than heroin. Like all addictions, I'm told the desire lingers long after the body is "clean", and stressful situations make the wish for the comfort afforded by the nicotine even worse. Kinda like me and food.

It is a hard addiction to quit. I miss it every single day of my life.

I imagine it is, Julie, just as it's possible to do any other drug and not become addicted.

He's no stranger to action sports and it would appear water sports are no problem either.

Gerard Butler was out proving he can cut the curl with the best of them when he donned a wet suit and hit up Malibu beach on Friday.

The popular coastal hotspot, which is renowned for luring some of the best surfers in the world, did not appear to intimidate the buff 300 actor one bit as he geared up for his gruelling water workout.

Armed with an enormous blue board, the Scotsman boldly took to the waves with nearly as much verve and brute strength as he did playing King Leonidas in the Spartan epic four years ago.

With his newly sun kissed surfer-style locks falling around his face, Butler could quite easily have been mistaken for a long-standing member of the local surfing community.

And it would seem the 41-year-old actor has been well and truly bitten by the surfing bug.

Just last week he was spotted surfing off the Hawaiian coast in Maui.
Evidently, the trip only did justice to his ever-improving form as he drew many admiring looks from the watchful eyes on the beach.

Butler has been showing off his impeccably toned body quite a lot lately, and there's no questioning why.

The Scot has recently been linked with a string of beautiful A-Listers, the most recent being Justin Timberlake's ex-girlfriend, Jessica Biel.

Jessica, 29, was spotted on the back on the back of his motorcycle at the beginning of the month, making her the latest name to join a long line of Butler-admiring beauties.

The pair, who are soon to be be seen together in new film Playing the Field, have denied a love affair, claiming to be just good friends.

Yep... looks like he's back on cigarettes. That's pretty stupid after several years as a non-smoker to just start again but I know they're really hard to quit for good. My boyfriend tried several times and finally succeeded but, like Gerry, he started again a few times after stopping for a few years. I hope Gerry can do the same eventually!

I love food. I also love Valium. I've had ONE Valium ever. Too scared of addiction to take another. Plus my doctors never want to prescribe me any when I asked.

I love valium, too, and, like you, don't take it PRECISELY for that reason.

Doesn't it suck to be so responsible?

Many things suck lately.

Alot of folks seem to go from either to being on a diet to smoking or quiting smoking to eating alot. Its hard! And Gerry being a Scorpio....it's sometimes hard to give up earthly pleasures in your life. Even when they aren't good for you inthe long run.
