Scots movie hunk Gerard Butler makes shortlist for fashion award

GERARD BUTLER is in the running for a top fashion award - despite his self-confessed "lack of fashion sense".

The Law Abiding Citizen actor, who hails from Paisley, Renfrewshire, featured high in a recent poll and has made it on to the Scottish Fashion Icon shortlist, voted for by the public.

Other famous faces in the top 10 are actresses Tilda Swinton, Freya Mavor, Karen Gillan, Kelly MacDonald and Laura McGonigle; singers Amy MacDonald and Sharleen Spiteri; presenter George Lamb and River City actor Sam Robertson.

Awards founder Tessa Hartmann said: "There's a new generation of 'Cool Scots' out there and it's great to see."

More than 500 Scots aged 15 to 35 were asked to select their top three from a list of 20 fashionable Scots in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee ahead of the sixth Scottish Fashion Awards this summer.

Last year's Fashion Icon was Sunny Side Up singer Paolo Nutini.

Don’t be alarmed by the news that Gerard Butler is up for a fashion award. It’s from Scotland. Now listen people, don’t get all up in our grill about being mean to the Scots. We don’t have anything against them it’s just that don’t have an enormous choice of people to pick from. Tilda Swinton made the list. Okay. And judging by our exclusive pics of Butler checking out art in New Orleans, they didn’t look at these photos when they were making their decision.

Gerard was in NOLA with two pals checking out the art scene in Jackson Square. It’s a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Butler is in the big easy shooting a movie called Playing the Field which also stars Catherine Zeta-Jones. But you don’t have to wait until that movie comes out to see the fashion icon on the big screen. Butler’s movie Machine Gun Preacher is due in theaters this fall.

I'm still not liking the scruff. He really can clean himself up, even with his long hair, but it looks like he just doesn't take the time and that's putting it nicely.
