Local man's story to be told on the big screen

Childers is an American Missionary who travels throughout dangerous parts of Uganda and the Sudan, trying to save young children, who are victims of war.

His real-life rescue missions are now being transformed into a Major Motion Bio-Pic titled "The Machine Gun Preacher."

Childers said he began fighting this dangerous battle thirteen years ago after an overseas mission trip. He says during that trip, he saw a small child that had stepped on a land-mine, and that changed him forever.

Gerard Butler has been cast to play Childers.

Childers is flowery in his speech about himself and yet seemed to be luke-warm about someone playing him.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it.

Sam Childers about GB: "We'll see how he does, you know. We'll just have to see how he does. I mean, he's a cool guy and everything. But, ah, you know, sometimes they say playing my part can be a little bit rough, I don't know why. But it seems like he's doing okay."

Sounds okay. No BS. He thinks GB is cool and doing okay. That's good, right?

SC has probably answered the why-do-you-do-this question a thousand times before and now has a familiar speech for it without having to think.

I would think that it would be more than a little strange to see someone trying to be me (even a wonderful actor like GB ). So it's no wonder he has a wait-and-see attitude. It really has to seem bazaar to watch someone else re-live his life.

I'm not sure I want to see my life through the eyes of others. I'm sure others don't see me the way I do.

it's always like that, isn't it.

It would probably take a lot to hear or see someone taking their view of your life and present it to others.

I had a friend years ago who wanted to write my biography-before I was 30. Kind of tripped me out, you know. I hadn't done anything spectacular. Just the fact that someone was interested in my life was an ego boost, but still, did I really want them to know about my life?

The whole thing kind of reminds me of recording your own speaking or singing voice and listening to the recording. People who aren't familiar with their own sound always think, "is that really me?"
