Gerard Butler and actor pal Ben Stiller take a meeting with Artists for Peace and Justice in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti on Sunday (April 11).

Artists for Peace and Justice encourages peace and social justice and addresses issues of poverty and enfranchisement in communities around the world. The organization’s immediate goal is to build schools to serve the poorest areas of Haiti, providing an education, hot meals, clean drinking water and regular medical treatments to the children living in the slums.

Earlier this year, Gerry volunteered his time and participated in the Hope for Haiti Now telethon.

It was another busy day for the Artists for Peace and Justice team. The group which includes Gerard Butler, Demi Moore, Susan Sarandon, Ben Stiller, Olivia Wilde, and founder/director Paul Haggis visited a camp for internally displaced persons managed by actor Sean Penn and his Jenkins-Penn Humanitarian Relief Organization in Port-Au Prince, Haiti on Monday, April 12th.

The group, Artists for Peace and Justice are working to rebuild Haiti’s education system in Port-au-Prince, after the area was devastated by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake that hit the island on January 12th.

Gerard Butler gets a hug from Haiti aid worker Geena Heraty while visiting Port-Au Prince, Haiti on Monday (April 12).

The 40-year-old Scottish actor, Demi Moore, Ben Stiller, Olivia Wilde and Susan Sarandon took the time to visit a camp for internally displaced persons managed by actor Sean Penn and his Jenkins-Penn Humanitarian Relief Organization.

The celeb visitations were organized through Artists for Peace and Justice, which is working to rebuild Haiti’s education system in Port-au-Prince.

Okay, I had some down time at the airport and read the comments on JJ. I can't believe what some people were saying. One of the threads on Haiti turned into a discussion of his body parts!! I don't understand people!

It does seem as if this guy can't win even when he is doing something good. Celebrities have a huge impact on charities. People are influenced by celebrities and may give money just because they see a picture of them or a commercial. So no matter what his motivation is--which is between him and his conscience--he is doing a very good thing.

I am going to applaud him for bringing some attention to his fans and the rest of the world about the continued plight of the Haitians.
